We are excited to assume the role of Editors of Social Currents. While Social Currents is a young journal, it has established itself as a premier generalist journal. This feat is due, in part, to the excellent stewardship of its inaugural Editors, Toni Calasanti and Vinnie Roscigno, and the most recent Editors, Martha Crowley and George Wilson. We are thankful to the previous Editors for their support as we transition into this new role, and we are grateful to the SSS community for entrusting us with this important responsibility. As we move into the tenth year of the journal’s publication, we strive to continue building on the solid reputation that has been established within the discipline. This reputation reflects the journal’s commitment to publishing cutting edge research across the spectrum of subareas in Sociology; its unique format, which allows for shorter theoretical agenda-setting and empirical/policy front pieces; and its timely turnaround time from initial submission to receipt of reviews, which averaged only 39 days in 2021. The growing reputation also reflects the quality of feedback provided by both the reviewers and the Editors. This latter strength would not be possible without the actively engaged Editorial Board and the generosity of countless anonymous reviewers, who offer their valuable time and expertise on behalf of the journal. As Editors of Social Currents, we aim to continue upholding what has made the journal so rapidly successful, and will work to help continue its ascent as a top-tier generalist that represents the strength, vitality, and diversity of our SSS community.
