This issue continues a strong theme from 2021, which explores the implications for the evaluation community of the climate, environmental, and sustainability crises we all face. Other themes in this issue include bridging programmatic and systemic levels of analysis, increasingly important when evaluating in the Anthropocene; and how theory-based evaluation approaches adapt to politicised settings and address cross-context challenges of scalability. Realist evaluation is explored from two directions: by way of a systematic review and from a critical realist standpoint.
