A wideband high-gain millimeter-wave planar end-fire antenna based on spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SSPPs) is proposed. A symmetric SSPP transmission line is used to adjust the phase of the wave on the outer edges. By loading metal strips with I-shaped resonators, a transmission line which exhibits a SSPP-like behavior is formed. It is used to extend the lower limit of the working bandwidth from 34.75 to 24 GHz. The measured working bandwidth covers the frequency band from 24 to 40 GHz, which includes the whole Ka band, and the n257, n258, n260 bands in 5G communication. And the measured peak gain is 18 dBi. Therefore, the proposed antenna is suitable for millimeter-wave communication applications.
