Abstract

In addition to describing the context for, and intent of, the special theme issue on “Empowering Representations: Retinking Surrogates from the Margins”, the following introduction provides a brief description and sub-set of findings from each of the articles in the issue. Selected refereed papers include both theoretical and applied or practical approaches to, and critical lenses for, challenging how catalogers can responsibly, mindfully, and without bias discharge their responsibilities for providing access to collections inclusive of all.
