Efficacy of the Apoptotic Activity of CpsA-CpsC-L-ACAN Fusion Peptide against HeLa Cell Line

There are several treatments for cancer, including medication, surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and targeted therapy. Although these methods are common among cancer treatments, they can cause side effects such as resistance to treatment and damage to non-cancerous cells, and other adverse effects on the cells. This study aimed to evaluate the apoptotic activity of the CpsA-CpsC-L-ACAN fusion peptide against the HeLa cancer cell line. The rate of primary apoptosis delayed apoptosis and necrosis in HeLa Cells with a concentration of 64 μg/mL of the fusion protein was significantly increased compared to cases not treated with recombinant protein. Apoptosis of cancer cells without fusion protein and cancer cells increased from 4 to 80% after exposure to the recombinant fusion protein, which increased 20-fold apoptosis. The results showed that the percentage of cells treated with recombinant protein at a concentration of 64 μg/mL with total apoptosis was 80% and increased by 20 folds compared to untreated cells. The results showed that the recombinant protein with the anticancer sequence can inhibit the proliferation of the HeLa cancer cell line and induce apoptosis. Therefore, it could be used as prevention a vaginal cream to inhibit uterine cancer.
