Abstract

To determine the maximum permissible load-speed modes of friction of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and composites based on it, accelerated wear tests were carried out, consisting in the intensification of friction modes (velocities and loads). The allowable load-speed modes of operation of UHMWPE and a composite based on it with 5 wt % carbon fiber of the Belum brand were experimentally established. For UHMWPE, they are 120–200 N m/s; for the composite, 160–250 N m/s.
