Abstract

The chemical and biological applications of silicon(IV) complexes of N, O, and S donor ligands discovered in past few years are the main topics of this comprehensive review (>100 references). The review mainly covers the synthesis and biological activity of the complexes. The structure of these complexes are discussed on the basis of electronic, infrared, multinuclear (1H NMR, 13C NMR and 29Si NMR) spectral and X-ray crystallographic studies. These silicon complexes exhibited significant activity against all the tested microorganisms.
