Looking Forward to 2024: Rose Puls looks forward to the year ahead with a new team at Chemical Engineering & Technology.

Having recently discovered gardening, February is month I really look forward to. After braving the winds and cold weather of November and December to plant bulbs, those tiny shoots finally begin to appear bringing with it the feeling of spring and new starts. Those shoots are the first indication of what the garden will look like in full bloom, and it really does feel like the start of something special! The shoots are also beginning to show at Chemical Engineering & Technology. After joining the team in December 2023, I am really looking forward to seeing what the rest of 2024 has to offer.

After the departure of Barbara Böck at the end of 2023, we have a new team at Chemical Engineering & Technology. Sabine Wiederhold started her new role as Editor-in-Chief in December 2023, and I will be supporting her in this role as Deputy Editor. Both of us are incredibly excited to be starting in these roles and working with the community at Chemical Engineering & Technology. Arno Knappschneider will continue to support us at Chemical Engineering & Technology, particularly with our Special Issues. Barabara Böck led the team at Chemical Engineering & Technology for over two decades and we are grateful for all the hard work she has done.

For Sabine, this new role comes with a certain familiarity. Having been a member of the team for 13 years, she knows the community and has worked with many of you before. In her new role, she will be able to strengthen these ties and continue the great work at Chemical Engineering & Technology!

Since 2021, I have worked at ChemCatChem and ChemistrySelect in the Chemistry Europe portfolio of journals. While this new role involves a new team and change in focus, I hope that we can work even more closely with the Chemistry Europe team to ensure that we can publish the emerging technologies arising from the field of chemistry and chemical engineering together.

Chemical Engineering & Technology is here to serve its community, and as a reviewer you can support and ensure a fruitful peer review process by following these three tips.

Let us know if you are available to write a report for us. We spend a lot of time inviting reviewers for manuscripts and sending reminders so if you are unavailable or become unavailable after accepting an invite, just let us know by clicking the decline link or by writing us an email.

Give us the reasoning for your decision. Whether it is accept or reject, we want to know the why behind this decision. A detailed analysis gives the author the opportunity to improve their manuscript and provide any additional details as well rebut any comments.

Keep the report relevant. Comments such as boring or useless are not helpful. A lot of time and effort has gone into every manuscript. Keeping the report relevant and based on the science or presentation of the results ensures a fruitful discussion for the authors.
