Something Old, Something New, Nothing Borrowed, Something Blue

Dear readers, authors, and reviewers,

It's a new year and an (almost) new team for ChemBioEng Reviews.

After more than 30 years at Wiley Dr. Barbara Boeck has retired. As founder and Editor-in-Chief she was responsible for the development of ChemBioEng Reviews since its launch in 2014. From the time when we were a young journal, when she offered authors transfers from our sister journal Chemical Engineering & Technology to us. Until when we finally received an Impact Factor and the author- and readership of ChemBioEng Reviews continued to grow. During that time, she had the best for the journal and our authors and reviewers in mind and supporting the community by giving many talks and presentations to give an understanding of “How to write a hit paper”. We wish her the best for her retirement.

But let's start with the new and old and let me introduce to you our new Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Sabine Wiederhold. You may know her name from our sister journals Chemical Engineering & Technology and Chemie Ingenieur Technik, where she takes care of Chemical Engineering related manuscripts since 2010, handling articles from submission to publication. She worked close with Dr. Boeck and knows the Chemical Engineering community well. She is looking forward to work with you and help ChemBioEng Reviews to grow and thrive. So is our new Deputy Editor, Dr. Rosemary Puls. She started at Wiley in 2021 at ChemCatChem and ChemistrySelect and will now be part of the Chemical Engineering family. As you can see, one familiar face remains. Dr. Arno Knappschneider is still part of the editorial team of ChemBioEng Reviews and will continue to handle manuscripts and take care of other tasks, like writing this editorial. Please welcome Dr. Wiederhold and Dr. Puls with me in the team of ChemBioEng Reviews.

Ahead lies a year full of changes for us as you can see in the above paragraph and lots of challenges for the world. While these internal changes might alter your person of contact or may result in some layout changes, we will keep up our work publishing your manuscripts in the known quality and with the topics that need to be addressed to face the global challenges. But be sure our signature color will always be blue.

In this first issue of 2024, you will find topics like biobased foams in construction applications but also a review about Li-Air batteries and there is more to come. As in the last ten years we will bring you the newest and best topics around.

Welcome to 2024 stay safe and healthy!

Yours sincerely

Arno Knappschneider (Associate Editor)

Rosemary Puls (Deputy Editor)

Sabine Wiederhold (Editor-in-Chief)
