Abstract

Foaming of particles of acrylonitrile–methacrylic acid copolymer in the temperature interval 160–220°С was studied. As shown by IR spectroscopy, the final polymer matrix of the foam plastics consists of glutarimide fragments. Thermogravimetric analysis shows that the products start to degrade at a high temperature (about 350°С). The effect of the prolonged heat treatment at 150–190°С on the physicomechanical characteristics of the foamed plastics was examined.
