A method to calculate DPA cross sections of arbitrary materials exposed to protons, neutrons and ions using a track structure calculation model is developed. This method was applied to calculate the DPA cross section of copper irradiated by protons and neutrons for benchmarking. The calculation reproduced the earlier measurement data from 1 to 1000 MeV ranging 3 orders of magnitude within a factor of 3. Our calculation model, available as a part of the radiation transport code PHITS, offers the topological arrangement of the defects induced by radiation, which is demonstrated in SiO specimens exposed to protons and neutrons.
