Although the merits of trophoblast organoids have been established, a high-resolution assessment of these systems has not been performed. Here, Shannon et al. generate a single-cell transcriptomic atlas of two distinct trophoblast organoid systems that defines their similarities and discrepancies with reference to trophoblasts.
