A one-pot transition metal-free approach has been unfolded for the diastereoselective synthesis of novel β-carboline tethered trans-2,3-dihydrofurocoumarin derivatives. The multi-component character of reaction, broad substrate scope, short reaction times, good atom economy, high diastereoselectivity, excellent yields, column chromatoghaphy-free purification and gram-scale applicability are the advantages offered by this procedure.
