Microbiologically influenced corrosion in water recovery system of manned spacecrafts deserves attention. The effect of on the corrosion of 5A06 aluminium alloy in simulated condensate solutions of space station was investigated. The organic acids induced significant dissolution of aluminium alloy, electrochemical measurements results showed living cells could weakened the cathode reaction, and focused ion beam-scanning/transmission electron microscopy indicated that cell promoted the thinning of passive films. affected the corrosion of 5A06 AA through metabolic activities and extracellular polymeric substances, ultimately promoting the degradation of passive films of aluminium alloy.
