High temperature corrosion behavior of ADC12 aluminum alloy in oxalic acid solution

High temperature corrosion of ADC12 aluminum alloy in oxalic acid solution was investigated using weight loss, electrochemical measurements, surface technologies. The results showed that at room temperature, the aluminum alloy exhibited localized corrosion, while at high temperatures, it exhibited uniform corrosion. As the temperature rose from 30 °C to 90 °C, the rapid dissolution of its passivation film led to a 70.19% increase in the corrosion rate. After soaking for 72 h, its corrosion rate decreased by 74.35% because of the depletion of hydrogen ions and the accumulation of corrosion products. The corrosion products were mainly AlO and aluminum oxalate.
