Optical design of Fery imaging spectrometer with large working distance and long slit length

This article demonstrates a imaging spectrometer using Fery prism with large working distance and long slit length. Two spherical lenses are inserted between the double-convex lens and the Fery prism to enlarge the clearance distance. Using this method, an imaging spectrometer with a 37.2° field of view and F# 2.2 is designed, and the measured spectrum ranges from 400 nm to 900 nm. The performance is analyzed and evaluated. Laboratory testing results prove the excellent optical performance. This compact, cost-effective spectrometer with high performance and less stray light has a huge potential for broadband space exploration.
