Abstract Deformation theory is common to the theories of elasticity, hydrodynamics, and electrodynamics. The law of conservation for the deformation of a control figure contains linear, quadratic, and cubic invariants. Moving to the limit of deriving the continuity equation destroys the quadratic and cubic invariants in the formula for the coefficient of volume expansion and the equation of continuity

Generation of Optical-Terahertz Solitons by a Few-Cycle Laser Pulse Bull. Russ. Acad. Sci. Phys. Pub Date : 2024-01-01
Abstract An extremely short laser pulse of high intensity is used to consider the generation of broadband terahertz radiation. A numerical model of the generalized Yajima–Oikawa system shows that in contrast to a quasi-monochromatic process, the Kerr nonlinearity plays an important role for a few-cycle pulse in the generation of an optical-terahertz soliton when its dispersion is considered.

Study of the Decay of the Thorium-229 Isomer. Looking for an Electron Bridge Bull. Russ. Acad. Sci. Phys. Pub Date : 2023-12-19
Abstract The electron shell has a critical effect on the processes of both quenching and feeding of the 229mTh isomer. To assess the role of resonant conversion and the implementation of the electronic bridge mechanism, a technique with a delay between the moment of formation and registration of single-charged ions of no more than a millisecond is necessary. The paper discusses the preparation of an

Abstract An abrupt lengthening (from 295 to 684 μs) of the luminescence decay time of Tb3+ ions in a solution of a terbium(III) complex with tetra-1,3-diketone calix[4]arene in the region of the solution crystallization temperature (212 K) was observed. This fact testifies to the complex’s sensitivity to the structure of the local environment, which can be used for spectroscopic purposes and remote

Half-Life of 229mTh Isomers in an Acid Solution Bull. Russ. Acad. Sci. Phys. Pub Date : 2023-12-01
Abstract An experiment is performed to observe photons of the isomeric transition of energy Eis ≈ 8 eV in 229mTh nuclei, obtained by eluting a hydrochloric acid solution from an ion-exchange column with 233U. Thorium in the solution exists in the form of 4+ ions, and isomeric transitions are possible due to the emission of photons only. The attenuation of photon emission gives the half-life of the

Controlling the Optical Heating of a Silicon Probe Using Near-Field Energy Transport Carried by Localized Surface Plasmons Bull. Russ. Acad. Sci. Phys. Pub Date : 2023-12-01
Abstract Optical heating in solids is fundamentally related to the dissipation of energy during absorption. The absorption of light can nevertheless be enhanced through the excitation of optical resonances (e.g., plasmon, Mie, and Fano). The authors investigate the amplification of light absorption in nanostructured silicon via excitation of the optical near field in the gap between the tip of a silicon
