The Rh-catalzyed three-component C(sp3)/C(sp2)−H activation has been achieved through a two-directing group strategy. This protocol provides a convenient and efficient pathway for the construction of diverse 8-alkyl quinoline derivatives in one-pot. Furthermore, mechanistic studies revealed the first C−H amidation was significant faster than the sequential C−H alkylation.

Metal- and solvent-free domino reaction of 2-isocyanophenol esters to benzoxazines: long-range 1,5-acyl migration on 1,4-diazabutatriene Chem. Commun. (IF 4.9) Pub Date : 2024-04-23 Alireza Akbari, Hormoz Khosravi, Felix Bauer, Frank - Rominger, Bernhard Breit, Saeed Balalaie
The first example of intramolecular nucleophilic addition of 1,4-diazabutatriene to ester is disclosed. This approach provides a facile and versatile synthesis for functionalized 2H-1,4-benzoxazines through a metal-, reagent-, and solvent-free condition. Experimental and computational studies revealed the pivotal role of 1,5-acyl migration as the self-catalytic step in the reaction selectivity.

Mechanistic Variances in NO Release: Ortho vs. Meta Isomers of Nitrophenol and Nitroaniline Chem. Commun. (IF 4.9) Pub Date : 2024-04-23 Prahlad Roy Chowdhury, Monali Kawade, G. Naresh Patwari
The NO release following 266 nm photolysis of ortho and meta isomers of nitrophenol and nitroaniline shows bimodal translational energy distribution, wherein the slow and fast components originate from dynamics in the S0 and T1 states, respectively. The translational energy distribution profiles for any NO product state shows a higher slow-to-fast (s/f) branching ratio for the ortho isomer in comparison

Recent Progresses and Perspectives on Metal-organic Frameworks as Solid-state Electrolytes for Lithium Batteries Chem. Commun. (IF 4.9) Pub Date : 2024-04-23 Xin Wang, Sheng Jin, Zhiliang Liu
Solid-state electrolytes (SSEs) are the key materials in the new generation of all-solid-state lithium ion/metal batteries. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are ideal materials for developing solid electrolyte because of their structural diversity and porous properties. However, there are several significant issues and obstacles involved, such as lower ion conductivity, lesser ions transport number

Cyclodextrin ‘Chaperones’ Enable Quasi-Ideal Supramolecular Network Formation and Enhanced Photodimerization of Hydrophobic, Red-shifted Photoswitches in Water Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. (IF 16.6) Pub Date : 2024-04-19 Daniel Hoenders, Simon Ludwanowski, Christopher Barner-Kowollik, Andreas Walther
Precision-engineered light-triggered hydrogels are important for a diversity of applications. However, fields such as biomaterials require wavelength outside the harsh UV regime to prevent photodamage, typically requiring chromophores with extended p-conjugation that suffer from poor water solubility. Herein, we demonstrate how cyclodextrins can be used as auxiliary agents to not only solubilize such
