Intelligent Support for Solution of the Problem of Operational Goal Setting by Aircraft Crew at the “Landing” Stage: Collision “Runway Running”—“Poor Braking” Threat

Abstract

The task of operational goal setting arises for a crew when the collision appears: “the current stage of flight is an immediate threat to implementation of this stage”. The constructive solution of this task recommended to the crew is jointly developed by two onboard intelligent systems of the tactical level: the intelligent information system “Situational Awareness of the Crew” and the onboard operationally advising expert system “Operational Goal Setting”. The task of the intelligent information system “Situational awareness of the crew” is to detect a collision and declare it to the crew. The knowledge base of this system contains a mathematical model of the development of an emerging threat and a procedure for calculating the “point of no return” of this threat for each method of resolving a collision, which is included in the knowledge base of the on-board operationally advising expert system “Operational goal setting”. When the threat approaches the “point of no return”, this expert system recommends the type of method to solve the collision that has arisen: the flight stage (the current flight goal + the next stage of achieving it). The method of solving the problem of operational goal setting is solution by precedent. The appearance of the knowledge base of the onboard operationally advising expert system “Operational goal setting” is presented.
