Stochastic Resonance in Optoelectronic Artificial Spiking Neuron

  • Published:
Journal of Applied Spectroscopy Aims and scope

The results from experimental investigation of the stochastic resonance effect in an optoelectronic artificial spiking neuron (ASN) based on a single photon detector and a laser with a vertical resonator are presented. The ASN is excited by a periodic signal and noise. It was shown that significant amplification of the periodic signal and increase in the signal-to-noise ratio are observed at a certain noise level. The effect of the amplitude and frequency of the periodic signal on the appearance of stochastic resonance in the ASN was studied.
