Abstract

The results of U‒Pb (ID-TIMS) geochronological studies of garnet from iron-bearing skarns of the Shalym deposit (Kondoma ore field, Gornaya Shoriya) are presented. Our data are the first direct estimation of the age of the formation of the iron deposit of the Kondoma ore field (499 ± 1 Ma). The formation of this deposit is related to the Middle to Late Cambrian subalkaline magmatism, which hasn’t previously been recognized within the Gornaya Shoriya fold areas (the western part of the Altai–Sayan fold area).
