Abstract

A new molybdovanadate-based heterometallic complex, (NH4)17.5[Co0.5Na0.5(H2O)3]2[Co(H2O)4]2[(Cu6(H2O)2(OH)2V9Mo23O108)]·23.5H2O (1), was synthesized through the sequential-synthetic method and fully characterized. Structural analysis reveals that compound 1 exhibits a two-dimensional (2D) framework constructed from the C-shaped {V9Mo23Cu6} anions connected by [Co(H2O)4]2+ and [Co0.5Na0.5(H2O)3]1.5+ units. Compound 1 has a columnar structure with a smooth surface, sharp fringes, and an average size of 40 nm. Photophysical studies show that compound 1 has a band gap of ca. 2.13 eV. Magnetic studies reveal the presence of strong antiferromagnetic interactions in compound 1.

Graphical Abstract

A new molybdovanadate-based heterometallic complexes constructed from the C-shaped {V9Mo23Cu6} clusters linked with [Co(H2O)4]2+ and [Co0.5Na0.5(H2O)3]1.5+ units has been synthesized. Compound 1 has a band gap value of ca. 2.13 eV and exhibits the dominant antiferromagnetic behavior.
