方向一: 生物农药开展以天然产物类农用抗生素的发现、研究与创制等方面为主的工作。方向二: 农药毒理学主要从农药引起的哺乳动物及昆虫细胞毒性及其相关机制方面开展研究工作，了解各种不同杀虫剂潜在的基因毒性，以及对人体正常代谢功能的影响。
