个人简介

I am a lecturer and researcher in the Division of Cell & Molecular Biology. I've been here since 1990 and previously worked for five years at Yale University as a Research Fellow. My Research Interests concern the molecular mechanisms which determine cell behaviours during the development of the Central Nervous System. Currently, we are investigating the molecular anatomy of transcriptional repression complexes which regulate cell fate choices during development. Also, I'm interested in the role axonal guidance cues play in regulating neuronal survival. We make use of the model organism Drosophila in our studies due to the ease with which it can be genetically manipulated. I have a strong commitment to teaching and have been involved with maintaining course standards both within College and nationally. From 1998 - 2000 I was a Quality Assurance Agency Subject Specialist Reviewer and from 1999 - 2004 Director of Undergraduate Studies for Biochemistry. Currently I look after a number of courses within the Biochemistry degree programme, including fourth year MSci students.
