Dr. Shoemaker does not have his own research group, and as such does not normally directly supervise graduate students or postdoctoral associates. All of Dr. Shoemaker's research is collaborative in nature, focused on the application of a wide variety of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) methodologies to address problems in the areas of materials science, molecular structure, molecular motion and dynamics, and reaction dynamics that come up in the diverse research groups supported by the NMR Facility. We employ a wide variety of modern liquid-state and solid state NMR techniques, including one-dimensional and multi-dimensional methods to solve problems related to structure and dynamics in the areas of Organic, Inorganic, Physical, Biological, and Analytical Chemistry, as well as interdisciplinary work in collaboration with groups from MCDB, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, and several area Institutes.
