Research Direction

Our long-term goal is establishing a basic and medical translational combined lab, which is facing our national major medical needs and key scientific issues. “Erythropoiesis and Blood Disease Research” group focus on studying the molecular mechanism and therapy strategies in erythropoiesis and related blood disease including thalassemia, myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). We now have three major cutting-edge directions:

1)     Identify novel regulators in hematopoiesis/erythropoiesis by systematic and integrated strategies including CRISPR/Cas9 mediated gene editing and high-throughput genetic screening, transcriptome and proteomics;

2)     Hemaglobin gene regulation and gene therapy  in thalassemia;

3)     New gene editing technology and highthroughput genetic screen in different biological process including target therapy and radiation therapy.
