Abstract

A new anionic Co(III) complex with 2-[((E)-(2-(ethylamino)-5-nitrophenylimino)methyl)-4-(phenyl diazenyl)]-phenol is prepared and characterized by ¹H NMR, IR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The crystal structure of the complex is studied by single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD). From the single crystal XRD data it is found that in the complex, two structurally non-equivalent molecules of the doubly deprotonated ligand are tridentate-chelated by the central Co atom. The cobalt(III) ion is in a slightly distorted octahedral environment of four N and two O atoms.
